Main Page: Welcome to the home page for the Shorin-Ryu Karate Club at UW-Madison. Have a look around to find our more about our club, our history, and how to join.
Shorin-Ryu Karate is a club sport that has been teaching students martial arts skills since 1972. Currently we have several Senseis (teachers), many of whom are students and staff at the university. Students in this class come from all walks of life, sharing the common desire to study a martial art. The ultimate goals of this dojo are to teach personal self-protection skills, share the rich history of the Shorin-Ryu martial arts, and to create a learning environment for self-mastery.
The first class of the spring semester will be on Tuesday, September 2, 2010, in B101 Lathrop Hall. Newcomers are welcome to come and either watch or participate. If participating, please bring comfortable workout clothes.
We welcome new members at any time during the semester. No prior martial arts experience is necessary. As a UW Recreational Sport, we can only accept UW Students, Faculty, or Staff as members.
